Fall, Day 18.
Adventure Log - Day 1.
The day has finally come. I'm leaving home.
This morning, Professor Juniper delivered a gift to my house. Not just for me, mind you - it was a gift for me and my best friends, Cheren and Bianca. Our first pokémon - an Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig. I found it interesting that these three were what we were offered - each ascendant to another, that each of us friends would have an advantage against one friend, but a disadvantage against another. A balance, to keep us all even. I chose the Snivy, and while he's normally a mild-natured sleepyhead of a fellow, he showed himself to be quite competent when Bianca challenged me with her Oshawott -- he even took down Cheren's Tepig, which was a bit of a surprise considering both Tepig's elemental advantage as well as Cheren's serious, no-holding-back attitude.
After our first battles (which we foolishly had in my bedroom - somehow we managed to make a complete mess of the place without actually breaking anything) we visited Professor Juniper in her Juniper Pokémon Lab, where she officially gave us all Pokédexes and sent us off to fill them out. I should mention that before the visit, my mother asked me if I wanted to nickname Snivy -- I named him Garde, after a tough, no-nonsense bodyguard I'd read about once. It seems to fit how he acts in battle.
Of course I said goodbye to my mother before leaving, and checked in on Cheren and Bianca's departures as well -- Cheren has his parent's blessings, but Bianca's father, well... anyways, her mother supports her, so I'm sure it'll be alright in the end. I wish I could have said goodbye to Dad before setting out, but...
Anyways, Professor Juniper met us again as we all set foot on Route 1 together, and showed us how to use Pokéballs to capture other Pokémon. We decided to have a contest to see who could capture the most Pokémon, and with that Cheren and Bianca went ahead to Accumula Town, while I stayed behind on Route 1 to try my hand at capturing a few Pokémon myself.
I don't know what the future holds, but it's looking bright!
